The importance of grabbing five minutes

I like to travel by train as I find it is a time when I have to sit still, (thus avoiding getting up and ‘just doing a little job’), I can choose to be quiet and I can choose something to read – usually the free newspaper. And if I am feeling like a treat, then it is a coffee in hand whilst I am reading. This may not sound much fun to you, but the idea of grabbing a quick five minutes to sit quietly and read something feels like bliss to me. There is something about travelling by train that makes me stop and just ‘be’ for a short while that I find very relaxing. I often find myself wishing my journey was just a little longer…

It makes me realise how important it is to grab those five minutes to just switch off and to enjoy the peace. In our forever busy lives we can so easily forget about our own needs. So see if you can grab your five minutes each day to switch off and ‘just be’.
