Loss and grief

The feeling of loss can be experienced in many different situations.  We may traditionally think of loss in the sense of grief when we experience the death of a loved one.  Other types of loss can include:

  • loss of a job
  • loss of relationship
  • loss of a sense such as sight or hearing
  • loss of independence
  • loss of mobility
  • loss of hope
  • loss of the future we had imagined

The video below by Dr Susan Delaney helps to explain that sometimes grief is something that maybe never really goes away but how over time, the world around us can slowly start to grow so the grief, whilst still there, starts to occupy a smaller part of our lives.
